Our articles that we have so far contain studies, trends, viewpoints, etc. I learned facts about how music lyrics affects your thoughts and the impact and influence on adolescents, emotions. We stayed with our topic of Music & Violence, universal theme, and generalizations. We sticked with them because they fitted almost perfectly with our general topic. I hope to find more psychological and legal information about the topic. More info about freedom of speech, and the mind. Our collaboration is great because of our same interests about the topic. What is not working is that we should have our mind set on one strong thought. What is working is that we are keeping are research as unbiased as possible, opposed from our personal opinions.
Driving Question
To what extent does music impact the motives of individuals towards deadly conflicts?
Symposium Reflection #2
Our approved topic is Music & Violence/Aggression. Our driving question is, “To what extent does music impact the motives of individuals toward deadly conflict?” We added “aggression to our topic because . We wanted to use “deadly conflict” because it portrays many things. Our student led research option is an interview. We chose an interview so we can get results of what are peers think about this topic. What has been easy was putting the questions together. What was hard was getting the time to interview around 20 people. Our next steps are finishing the SLR and ISD. Our collaborations is good because we have been on the same page.
Symposium Reflection #3
After being done with the ISD, I learned that music itself can be used to perform violent acts. For example, music used in war, as weapons, and as torture devices. I also learned how music affects people emotionally and how it can drive them to things such as suicide. I learned that with great teamwork I can really get work done efficiently and it really pays off at the end. We made sure that our trifold board, background and imagery connects to our universal theme, generalizations, and topic on a deep symbolic level by selecting the right font, tone, and dark/metal imagery. We are planning to do a painting of some sort to depict how music can influence a person. In order to make sure we successfully complete this component of the project, we would have to go to the W.I.N Program and work on it during class and after school. The group's collaboration has been solid throughout the whole process. This is evident because when we use teamwork and work rigorously we get things done.
